We Love Disney

There are two types of people in this world. Those that love Disney, and those that don’t realise they love Disney. Because, let’s be honest, we can all relate to at least one Disney film!

We first took Lucie to Disneyland Paris in May 2018. It was meant to be a big surprise for Lucie. The day before we went we took her to the Disney Store on Oxford Street for the reveal (Tip – If you phone up your local Disney Store in advance, you can arrange to have your trip revealed to your children on the big screens!). On the train into London, Lucie said she was feeling a bit poorly. When we got to the Disney Store, she really wasn’t acting herself, but we went ahead and they did the big reveal. Her reaction was one of happiness, buts something wasn’t quite right. We filmed it expecting her to be bouncing of the walls, but instead she was very quiet. As we left the shop, she was sick all over the pavement. We got her some medicine and headed to the hotel where we were booked in for the night.

All night she was unwell, and the three of us barely slept ahead of our 6am train to France. We all powered through and made the journey. Luckily Lucie slept through most of it, and by lunchtime we’d arrived at Disneyland, albeit with a subdued Lucie.

Within an hour of being there, she was back to feeling ill and ended up having a nap (she NEVER naps!). After waking she felt a bit better and we went to the Princess Lunch we had booked. Looking through the photos and videos, you can see how much she wants to enjoy it, but how sorry for herself she is feeling.

That evening we ended up getting the Doctor out to our hotel. He believed it could be Tonsillitis. He prescribed some medicine and we dosed her up. That night she was zonked. Out for the count. Come morning she had a bit more of a spring in her step, so we continued with the medicine and made our way to the Character Breakfast. The trip was great, but we felt that it had been slightly marred by Lucie being ill. After some toing and froing we decided to book again, this time for October 2018. This time was even more magical, and it was everything we had hoped for.

Since then, we’ve been back two more times – July and October this year. We are now annual pass holders for the park meaning we can go a little bit more freely! Is it any less magical? No. Seeing Lucie interact with the characters is amazing. Plus, we manage to entertain ourselves a little bit (Disney Dares anyone?)

So yes, we are a Disney family. And we wouldn’t change a single part of that!
